Hello Ethan, hello everybody ! I'm trying to correct my room's acoustic. You can open a REW file and see two images with the following link : PhotosIt's a cave, with dimensions approx 16' x 13' x 8' (5 x 4 x 2.5 m). Walls are in rock, without plane surfaces. The ground is in wood. I used it to record live sound (bass, guitar, drums, sax/flute, keyboards) then mix it. REW record shows a big pic at 40 Hz. Listening position is not optimal, I have to make trials in the 35-40% region. I wanted to begin with bass traps, using 120 kg / m3 mineral wool ("Rockfeu Coffrage 100") in vertical 200 x 60 x 20 cm (6.6' x 2' x .66') wood frame totally filled with 2 layers of wool. If necessary I'll be able to add a vinyl menbrane later to improve bass trapping and avoid mids-high trapping. The basstraps could be disposed : - 1 in front of the kick - 1 in front of each monitor first reflection point - 1 in the angle at the right of the drums - 1 in the angle at the left of the drums Do you you have some advices for a better absorption near 40 Hz? Thank you very much for your help. Best regards Eric

40 Hz is very low, and taming that requires a lot of thick bass traps. But problems at 40 Hz aren't as damaging as problems from 80-300 Hz. So I'd focus on what you can except to achieve with a reasonable amount of treatment, and see where that gets you. I agree with treating the walls and corners, and it sounds like you know what to do. Putting absorbers on the walls near the drums is also great, though I don't think putting a bass trap in front of the kick drum will do much. I suppose you can try that! But absorbers work best near room surfaces rather than out in the middle of the room.

You don't appear to have so much a peak at 40Hz as you do nulling from 80-130Hz. Remember - you can go plus OR minus 10dB to meet the response spec. If you look at your waterfall graph there is just no information in that bass range at all. So yea, try to fix your nulls then see what happens at 40Hz.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, I'll build and place my first traps then make a new evaluation and let's see the new response... Best regards, Eric
