I hang out at malls, occasionally.
I've noticed harsh FM-type high frequency sounds at certain places and/or times.
One place was a seating area near the restrooms by the food court. That was a single drone.
Tonight I was outside a mall and, after it had closed and got quiet, I noticed a repetitive minor third; again with an unsynced FM tone.
At first I just noticed it. Then I determined the interval. Then I was curious.
Then I felt utterly repulsed and had to leave.
So is this a known tactic to reduce loitering?

I think that HF noise is related to alarm systems - burglar, fire - something like that.

I've heard of Classical being anti-teen loitering.
I don't think the continuous one note drone at the South Bay Galleria Mall is an alarm; not to sure about the repetitive minor third at Del Amo.
Regardless, it was highly effective.
I could've googled it - but to what effect? I already know that sound is used in psychological warfare. Everyone knows about taste in music. I posted to get feedback from individuals who may be specifically knowledgeable.
Anyway, if I had a fortress to guard from particular demographics, now I know a solution.
