Hello guys, I’d like to share with you some experiments I’m doing on my new listening room. And ask for advice to the experts of course. This is (will be actually) an hifi listening room only, no rec/mix studio or Home Theater. Dimensions: 7x5x3.05 meters (23’x16.5’x10’). All brickwall/concrete. Wood flooring. Two large windows on the left side. Speakers: DTQWT with a front 8” wideband and two 10” rear firing woofers. Mic position: 2,6mt (8.5’) from back wall (38% of the room length, as often advised) Speakers position: 1,8mt (6’) from the front wall (measured on speaker face). REW V5.1 and UMIK-1 microphone
I bought two packs of ten sheets of rockwool 40 Kg/m3 (2,5 lb/ft3) 6 cm thick (2.36”), cut out eighty triangles 60*60*85cm (23.5*23.5*33.5”) and built two simple superchunk corner traps. Then took some REW measurements as follows - Room completely empty, no basstrap, no furniture (only the speakers and measuring gear) - As above, with a basstrap in a front corner - As above, with bass traps on both front corners.
