Hello, first post on this forum.
My name is Riley, I'm from British Columbia, Canada.
Ethan gave me some advice about a month ago about how I should go about treating my room that I was moving into. Long story short I ended up not being able to use that room and I am now forced into a pretty uneven guest room, which is actually the back half of my peaked roof garage and I was hoping someone could put their two cents in. I am getting extremely uneven bass frequencies, which all generally just sound like mud. I have a few Auralex wedgies placed around the room at the moment that are helping the slightest, but i realize i need better absorption, especially for my low end with being in a sloped roof room. I understand for the most part how it is effecting my mixes and have been able to adjust accordingly going off of a few different references and playing them in different settings but it's just aggravating me to the point where i haven't been working on anything new, I feel like my worries of the room have overshadowed my creativity completely, if that makes sense.

PHOTO (sorry about the lighting)
I attached above links to a diagram + photo of the room to better help my explanations and questions.
I am thinking about buying some Roxul Safe and Sound in the upcoming days and I already have some wood and fabric around that will work great for some DIY panels/basstraps, i just don't know exactly how to go about placement as well as deal with a few other quirks in the corners of my space. I have a omnidirectional mic in the mail, and i would like to measure my room before doing anything permanent, but i figured there are some obvious symmetry issues in the room that don't exactly need to be measured acoustically to be addressed.
My room at the highest is 11ft. (front wall that i face in mix pos.) and lowest 6'10 (behind me) due to a sloped ceiling, I know I should add a cloud above me and that it needs to be in between me and my monitors, but how high do i want it from the ground? The room is also an L shape due to a washroom and kitchen section that is occupying part of the space to the right of my station. The washroom is in the corner against the 11ft. wall, (directly to the right of my mixing position) but has it's own roof above it that is only 8 ft., presenting a big gap until the sloped roof above with a water tank up, but other than that it isn't being used for anything and all that open space is making everything sound pretty uneven. My main question is should I build a new wall (with a door obviously) across (and above) the washroom, closing off the kitchen and gap above the washroom as well? The wall into the washroom is super light, with only one or two studs across and two pieces of drywall, whereas the wall on my left is a hard cement wall with a long window and a door to outside. If i were to do this, it will make my mixing room more 'square' or symmetrical and i won't have a big opening in the back right side that goes into the kitchen/washroom area, & i will also be able to then make a bass trap in the rear right corner along the wall i would build and the rear wall. The back wall of my space is not parallel to the front wall, so my corners rear corners will be uneven, about 80 and 100 degrees instead of 90, will this cause a big problem even with bass trapping? Will i have to make one corner thicker than the other?
& my last question(s), the door into my studio is about two inches away from the front left corner, and an old thread of mine, Ethan suggested instead of a regular corner bass trap i could just put a panel on the door and one on the wall as tight as i could up to the door, but that door was in the back of my old studio room that i was going to be using. I likely want even bass trapping in the front two wall corners correct? So should i do the same in the front right corner as well? They will both be 11 ft. as I want to go from floor to ceiling, but the left one will have to be split in two as the door is approx. 7 ft. tall ( i will build a normal basstrap above the door to ceiling). I was thinking i could possibly make two sliders against the wall without the door and just have it pulled out when i'm not making music, then slide it into place afterwards as i don't leave the studio frequently after i am in there, has anyone ever heard of someone doing this?
Sorry for the the length of my post, i'm just trying to be as specific as i can as i know this is quite an irregular room. Thanks to anyone in advance who is able to help out! I'm looking forward to using this forum and watching it grow into something great!
