Hi. If you're a beginner in the world of electronic music then you'd be well served to learn about MIDI. I've read a few articles on the subject but they tend to be intimidating. Yamaha, a brand of which I've always been fond, has a beautiful, short PDF on the topic and I suggest that a newbie reads it as their intro to MIDI. usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/3/314193/midi_basics_en_v10a.pdfSince clean installing my OS, I've been slowly rebuilding my software library and have installed REAPER. For better or worse, Novation's Automap software is not working well with it. The good news is that this situation gives me a reason to brush up on MIDI fundamentals. The opportunity to remove, or reevaluate, a software layer is one that shouldn't be wasted, I think. In any case, newbies, check out that friendly intro to MIDI - a good grounding in the topic should serve you well. If you care to dig, the Yamaha site has many hidden resource gems for synths, software, and other delights. Thanks.
