Good afternoon from the Canary Islands (Spain). I've been reading several of his post with great care, since I am conditioned home cinema room of 6.30 meters x 3.34 by 2.20 meters high. The roof is fonoacustico, the same commercial cinemas. In the back there is a shelf full of CDs placed in random order by diffuser and four seats in the first row and two in the second. After reading several of his post as clear as I have I am that I must mount base trap in the corners. The only question that arises is in absorption, according to the calculations I have done, that may be wrong since I'm newbie, I need about 12 absorbent panels which I make myself. As I read in your tests less thick panels in more quantity it is better than thicker. How thick should have panels or recommend you to have ?. Glass wool I want to use is 70kg. and 4cm wide. Can you help me to get inside my chances, the best sound possible ?. Thank you very much and greetings.

Sounds like you have 1.5" thick 5lb mineral wool or fiberglass available to place in a roughly 21x11x7 ft room yielding about 1617 ft3 volume.
That's technically a small room and will probably require more than 12 panels for an excellent result.
Fono Acoustica makes cables.

Ok thanks for answering. The fonoacustico roof, here is so called because it is a false ceiling fiber glass velvety black, the same as usually put in commercial cinemas. The roof is completely of this material. On the wall behind the shelf I have full of CDs that occupies all. It is free so the two side walls 6,35 each. This is where I have the doubt since the roof absorbs much more the basstrap corners, along the ceiling is low 2,20 tall and do not want to leave the room completely dead. Thank you very much.

Panels meant to absorb bass should be at least 3-4 inches thick (7-10 cm). So don't use panels thinner than that, even if you have a lot of them.

okay. panels 4 "in the corners to low-traps, but for medium and high enough 2" in the panels? regards I think the consensus, and science, is that 2" are good for early-reflection points. That thickness will help you absorb the directional high frequencies to improve imaging and clarity in the areas that are most responsible. Since 4" and thicker panels are appropriate for bass it's better to put those in corners where those frequencies build up. I'd like to add, and as Mr. Winer has shown in his video on diffusion, CD racks, bookshelves and Marvel figurines are not diffusers. If you want to call your real wall diffuse then maybe look into a QRD or Skyline diffuser.

Thank you. I'm following the advice given to me in this forum and by the time I tango finished almost all panels of the side walls, I have yet to finish the bass traps and then start with the diffuser for the part of behind as I have recommended . I can only doubt in the back wall where the ladder is, it would go a bass trap, but there is a speaker, I can put that part of the sloping roof and the wall? diffusion or absorption. If I mistake not be broadcast, is that correct? Greetings and thanks.
