Hello all. Happy to be hear . I have a few questions regarding DIY bass traps. 1: Does FRK cause high frequencie reflections? 2: Is the low frequency response effected when panels are placed with FRK facing to the wall/corner as apposed to facing outward? 3: Would a PVA/water mix (1:10?) sprayed on a rockwool panel to contain small fibers, adversely effect the broud band range/effectiveness of the absorber? Thank you. Ps. I believe this may be my first forum post ever.

Hey, Lucky, welcome to the Forum. We're happy to help but, lucky for you, those first two questions, especially the first, have been answered more than once here so please search and lurk more.
By PVA, do you mean that jelly they rub on women for ultrasound testing? If not, I don't know what that is. Let's just say maybe. If you're as new to acoustics as you are to this forum then I suggest you read the stickes and adhere to previously-established courses of action.
Thanks!

I found the previous thread on my first question rather uninformative. PVA is wood/craft glue. Thanks

Hi lucky, So yeah, but Hex is right so please read the "Read this first" and search this forum. But I will answer your questions to my best ability. 1. yes 2. don't really know but if it does at all, it does a much better job facing out into the room. (Hint: FRK is used when and where you won't get direct reflections back to the listening position so Mid and Hi reflections are not an issue here) 3. maybe, it probably depends how heavy the coating. You are encouraged to experiment and measure your results and share. Please search the forum or just read everything posted. If you check in every day you will become an expert, just like Ethan...well maybe 4. Buy and read Ethan's book. 5. Google is your friend (sometimes).

Thanks! I'm not new to acoustics. I found the previous thread on my first question rather uninformative. PVA is wood/craft glue. Thanks I searched "FRK reflections" and got 22 pages of results. Here are selections from the first four pages.
- A. hypothesize that this property is transitive and;
- B. test it using Room EQ Wizard.
Search "glue" for results on that topic. In short, glue is bad. If you have to use it, use as little as possible.
If you're actually new to forums in general then please watch my video on the topic. While I don't think I mention it in the video, lurking before posting is something that I, and moderators-who-have-gone-before, highly encourage. Ideally, in a forum, there'd be only one thread on any given topic, progress log, or specific inquiry or contribution. Having been active on forums for almost 20 years, I tell you that it's annoying to read redundant, yet sometimes conflicting, threads on essential information - and that's as a new member! Regarding home acoustics, unless you've done new legitimate research and produced a breakthrough, FRK is a redundant topic.
Like I have done with other subjects on other forums, any new member should be able to find virtually every needed piece of information here to completely and sufficiently complete a project. Remember to keep it simple and actually implement the things you learn. Please help us keep this forum useful and beautiful by refraining from posting before earnestly searching.
Thanks!
