hi guys, i really need your help: i'm moving to a new apartment with my girlfriend and i need to find a place for my studio. it's a small 2 rooms apartment{a living room and a bedroom}. i cant put the studio in the bedroom because she wont allow it so i need to find a place in the living room. the problem is that the living room is asymmetrical and with a very weird shape. i need your help in finding the best placement for my studio. i added some photos of the living room and a drawing.i think to put it near the couch facing the wall with the air conditioner but i know that it's the long wall and it will also be less the 9 feet from the rear wall. what do you think?also i can move everything around{TV,couch,etc...} thank you very much! cookietwist

With speakers at the bedroom end firing down the length would be my first choice. Obviously there is a traffic conflict with the bedroom hall/entrance. Setting up in front of the AC, if you sit around the 38% point, you'll be pretty close to the monitors but that could work too.

Exactly what rock said. If it was me, and without taking any measurements, I'd set up facing the door. Good luck.

thank you guys. that's what i thought also but the problem is that it will block the entrance and the hallway. it seems like the only solution is to put it in front of the AC. i will need to put bass traps at the rear wall though.

If you keep your setup small, you can probably work with it.

What do you mean by a small setup? I have two 5 inch monitors.

I mean like a compact desk, 49-key or smaller keyboard. Just not a giant studio desk. All I'm saying is that you can probably squeeze a little setup in that space without taking up the whole room.

Yes you're right, i'll try it. And what do you think about putting it in front of the AC?

Yes you're right, i'll try it. And what do you think about putting it in front of the AC? It's an obstacle like any other. You can put movable panels in front of it and turn it off while you work. Other than that, it's common to have something interfere with a 'perfect' layout but we just work around it.
That being said, there is a small chance that that specific location isn't the best. If you feel up to it, measure a few different points in your room to see if there's another option which tests better. Maybe you won't have to set up right there after all.

Hey cookie. Glad to see you're moving forward. Personally, I wouldn't choose this layout.
I'd put my desk centered in the room and facing the door or window. While I realize this is an inconvenient option in terms of room usability, the acoustic response is likely better. Perhaps it depends on your priorities but, as for me, I eat, sleep, and relax on the floor.
