Hey Ethan, First thanks a million for all your generous information. It's incredibly helpful. I'm about to build a bunch of acoustic treatment panels for my new mix room, using a combination of 2" Owens-Corning 703, 1x4" wood frames, and either burlap or muslin (haven't decided on which of the latter yet). A pro studio builder advised me that under the burlap, an additional layer of lightweight cotton material like what T-shirts or underwear are made of is necessary to contain the fiberglass flakes. I've haven't encountered mention of this detail from you yet. I'd like to avoid the extra budget and hassle for this additional material if possible. Do you have an opinion about whether this is necessary? Thank you very much, KJ

I have many panels in my home studio that have nothing but dyed burlap in front of the 703. This is the third studio I've had with burlap covering 703. I'm certain that's more than enough. As long as you don't bang on the panels with a broom stick, no fibers will escape into the air. OC 703 is very stable and doesn't shed or disintegrate the way mineral wool does.
