Hello again dear all. So I started my project a couple of months ago and noticed that after I installed the stonewool panels, the room smelled wierd, to the point that it was uncomfortable. I had done my research and was expecting that the off-gasses will disappear. Two months in, they haven't. SO..
I thought of going for knauf ecose material but: 1.I am not sure if they are as odorless as they advertise (comments on gearslutz say otherwise) 2. I don't want to rebuy material!
What it I cover them in really thin plastic (clingfilm or painters plastic) and use polyester batting infront, for the RFZ?
Anyone done it? Did it stop the smell? What about high frequency reflection? How thick should the batting be to make up for the plastic?
I ve read anything related to the subject and as usual its difficult to find a clear answer!
Thanks

Dear rock, I am in Greece, we have two suppliers of stonewool, Fibran and Knauf. As I said, I d rather keep what I ve bought already if plastic will contain the odor. What about the batting infront of the plastic? Wouldn't it absorb the high and mids? The other solution I was thinking of was to get the knauf ecose which theoretically doesn't smell and use it uncovered in front of plastic wrapped stonewool

You can use fluffy. IIG1180 doesn't smell, never did.

I've built a silencer for air conditioning. Inside there is rock wool pieces which are wrapped in clingfilm(to stop particles coming in). The silencer works well, it actually has better isolation than the wall... But rock wool smells from the silencer, even though they are wrapped.
The rock wool I used for that silencer, did lay outside for a long time, probably that's causing the smell.
It's so weird; if I get sweaty (playing drums for example), my skin starts to smell like the smell from the silencer, really weird.
