So how bad is a square room really? I heard a cube is worst, I'm guessing half-cube is second worst.
Also size - my understanding is that the BBC recommendation for audio work is a room with at least 2500ft3 space.
I'm asking because I have 2 weeks to find a new place and, wouldn't ya know it, they all seem to have small, squareish rooms. (I'm an upcoming creative not a fund manager - budget is a factor).
I'm wondering which would be worse for my life - warm beer all year or a square room even with a phun-ton of absorption? I really enjoy doing my mixing, etc (and drinking) so please let me know.

Try to find rooms close the the recommended ratios on Ethan's Mode Calculator page or use the calculator with the exact dims to see if modes "pile up". Yes, bigger is better too but you can make smaller work too with more absorption to reduce LF peaks and modal ringing.
If your'e in the US, try Busch Signature Copper Lager, it's cheap, $4.99 for 6 x 16oz!
Cheers, Rock

Yes, cube is worst, square second worst. But either with a bunch of bass traps is better (a lot better!) than a "perfect" shaped room with no bass traps. --Ethan
