Happy to say we've found a place. It's reported to be roughly 21' x 11' x 8, so a little smaller than my current one.
Having discovered that RFZ panels should be no less than 4" thick, and that I've frivolously treated my current front wall with 2" panels, I'm just going to make all my panels 4" thick and put Ethan's famous grocery bags behind the fabric - a new standard.
The topic of acoustics can get hairy quick so I really just want to simplify as much as possible and go Ford Model T on myself. Plus, Karla wants white/beige fabric on them with no more exposed frame. Actually she specifically referred to Ethan's living room panels - ahhh.
Since I currently have (12)4", (10)2" and (2)6" I should end up with 20 4" panels to start with.
I plan to start treating the front corners, floor-to-ceiling first - that's four.
Then the RFZ (including floor reflections) - at least six more.
Then there's the rear corners - 4 more (14 so far).
At this point I'll probably Fuzz Measure the room to check out the response. I'll probably wind up throwing panels in more corners with the remaining six panels for more bass effect.
As money rolls in (does it actually ever "roll in"?) I'll expand my RFZ, do more flat-surface rear wall treatment and generally fill in the room as much as possible.
If there's a question in here it's about the L/R RFZ points: I know you want one either side of you (midway between you and your speakers of course) but then you also want ones that cover your floor at that point too? I'm assuming the ceiling also? So essentially you're putting an angled bass trap above and below your side (RFZ) panels, right?
Maybe a second question would be: is one panel on the rear wall good enough for an RFZ or should I put more priority there? I know the rear wall is second only to the front but has special importance because of it's effect on bass. Obviously I'll have to do some experimenting but before I start drilling holes it might be prudent to ask first.
Thanks and I'll continue to update this thread with pics and screenshots, maybe videos or links as I go.
Be sure to buy stock in BUD cause immabout to drink a lot of it.
