This graph is smoothed at 1/24th octave. I am using two full-range speakers (Vandersteen Model 3A) supplemented by a single subwoofer (Polk PSW505) crossed over at 120 Hz. I have a second PSW505, but have not found a location or setting that improves from the above graph. My biggest single concern right now is the valley at 400 Hz. Not sure how to deal with that. Secondary is the spike between 100 and 200 Hz. If anything else jumps out at you dear reader, please speak up! Only the sub by the couch is active. The sub at the front of the room behind the speaker is disconnected. There are 2” absorbers behind the couch and on the wall above the wood stove.

All things considered, I think the SPL response is good. The short solution is to add more absorption. If you want to dive deeper as to exactly which dimension is causing that midrange dip, you can click my signature link.
At the end of the day, SPL isn't everything. The more you apply acoustics fundamentals to your space, the better your result will be. The question is simply: How far are you willing to go?
