I wasn't mistaking a cubic foot for a one dimensional foot, but you get the point. I'm sorry if your typo wasn't as funny as my question regarding symmetry. ;-) Like I said, I've been meaning to try out the software application. Thanks. What typo?

The issue of symmetry is a good example. I can see how problematic it is to mix with such an imbalance, but I don’t see that much of a problem in recording on the corner, except, perhaps, for bass build-up Sure, recording is different than mixing. Even if you were recording something in stereo, lack of symmetry s not necessarily a problem. Some years ago I recorded a CD for Music Minus One of cello and piano. I purposely used two different microphone types on the cello, not in an X/Y or related position. It still sounded great panned out left and right. Now, when recording an orchestra on a stage I'd aim for symmetry! But for one-off overdubs etc that's not a requirement.

Actually, I was reading your FAQ the other day and noticed you mention a recording that your cello teacher made while standing with her back against a corner. I guess that it being mono alone would make it a non-issue.
