It has been mentioned that using EQ to reduce peaks is acceptable below about 150Hz. That was done today and the results are good. Just thought there should be a dedicated post to this since the linked one is somewhat buried. Thanks.

Well, it can be good, or not good. My "rule" is to cut half as much as you think you should, to avoid doing too much damage elsewhere in the room (possibly close by) where the peak is instead a null. I mention cutting a peak in my own living room system in several of my articles, including my recent Bass Trap Myths article in the paragraph just before Myth #4.

I remember reading that you made a small notch in your living room. I measured the result in a 1' radius but I didn't think to go further. It's usually just me in this studio but I'll have to experiment to see what kind of result the notch is having on other areas. Thanks.
