Good day all!
I suppose that I am about to rehash an age-old question. This because I came across a post by Ethan dated 02/24/16 on the old forum.
My thoughts / plans before reading that post was to use the Roxul Safe'n'Sound product that is found in most big box stores in the area that I live in. I was also thinking that I would go with a depth of 6 inches which means that I would stack 2 sheets (2'x4'x3") of the insulating material.
I have not been able to locate much in the way of rigid fiberglass however.
In the article he says "For rooms smaller than 25 by 15 feet you'll do better with broadband bass traps made from thick rigid fiberglass placed in the room corners"
Am I to understand that he is strictly referring to the corner areas?
Unfortunately, as I have mentioned in my other posts that is exactly the category that my room falls into. Small - Approx So before I actually begin construction of my acoustic panels I thought that I would again ask for your wisdom.

I've also been wondering about this. My reasoning is that he recommends rigid for small rooms just due to the available space. While I've yet to see direct comparison between, say, 8" fluffy and 4" rigid, the general advice is that fluffy needs to be thicker. Until someone else chimes in, thicker and more coverage is better so use what you can get and put it everywhere.
And, in response to your signature, I'd rather get faded than burnt out. Burnout sucks and can be avoided with proper rest and recovery.

But, ultimately I may end up going with the 6" depth on all walls. I had an interesting discussion with the very knowledgeable folks at a woodworking site that I frequent. I sent them a few of my design ideas. What I hadn't thought of was:
If I construct a 6" deep panel for example that has corner and some lateral support planks, I hadn't taken into consideration the width of those supports. If the MDF that I use is 3/4" then the depth of my panel should be 6-3/4 - 7" (theoretically) I think that I am going to have my 4' x 8' MDF plank cut into 7" widths.
See YT video for the design I am considering. Here he uses rigid but I believe that I will end up using the Roxul fluffy stuff. Can't get enough of that Fluffy stuff. Sounds like a Kool & The Gang song.
