Ya that's a pretty good idea. Squeals on Wheels - you can franchise A cheap measurement mic is a good investment if you care about optimizing your space. The alternative is just to either put in so much absorption that measuring is mostly moot or to just be satisfied with 'close enough'.
Another thing I was thinking is that you can put your mixing zone in an entirely separate room. You'll link them via CCTV or live stream. People have been doing this since probably before the 90s.
Glad you're on the way.

Glad you're on the way. lol - like the name! This is the only room I can configure for a mixing zone. Every other room has worse issues (can't really move the stove in the kitchen for that optimal mixing space. lol ). But yeah.... I'm feeling quite optimistic about this current direction. I'll be posting layouts when I get them figured out better.

Ok, did some plotting and planning and this is what I got thus far: So if I slide my drums over by 3 inches from the western wall I can fit the mattress on the wall up against the ceiling. My ride cymbal will fit underneath the bottom edge of the mattress. So that is happy! I placed the mix-desk so that my listening position is at the 38% line (red line). The grey triangle shows the equilateral triangle between the monitors and my listening position. The magenta lines are the first reflection points - so I will need to use some treatment there (I'll be using the mirror method to get the exact location of course). And the black triangles in the corners are the bass traps. Hexspa I read this comment of yours from another thread: Can you elaborate on what you mean by that, as I don't know what the "between" is you are referring to. Also, is @pasim still around. I notice he is a drummer, and wanted to ask him some question if he is available.

How long do bass traps need to be?
Do they need to go from ceiling to floor, or can there be a gap from the floor to the bottom of the tap?
And if there can be a gap, how far of a gap would be viable?

You want to cover the largest total area possible. 2ft x 4ft panels 4" thick (or thicker) are usually straddled across corners. Most people install them 2ft across the corner and 4ft running in the corner BUT you can also install them 4ft across the the corner and 2ft running...but that takes up more space but also works better, your choice.
Use as many as you can and cover as many corners as you can. If you have some gaps, it's still ok but the more traps the better. More traps, less gaps. You do know a cubical/rectangular room has 12 corners not 4, right?

Brak, I merged your thread.
By 50%, I probably meant the mode but I need more context.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does that mean? By 50%, I probably meant the mode but I need more context.
I'm sorry - I thought when I quoted you from the other thread it would reference it. Here it is.

So I almost got the room ready. Been removing everything out except the desk and drums, and I still need to finish putting together the recording PC and getting the other gear situated on/in the desk. So at this current rate it might not be till this coming Sunday I do the tests, but hopefully I can do it sooner. I will be doing a base-line "naked room" REW test. So literally the only stuff in the room will be the drums, the rug/cushioning the drums are on, and the desk. No foam, no mattress, no other rugs (the floor is carpeted). I already know it will be crappy, as if I clap my hands in the room... the reflections..... ugh! Hexspa sorry to pester you, as you could be super busy. But just in case you responded and thought you clicked send, but didn't (just did that last night/today elsewhere) I figure I give you a friendly tap on the shoulder.

If you're going to test with drums in the room, make sure you at least damp all the heads' vibration. I have scrap pieces of foam cut in circles to throw on the drum heads when not in use just as a precaution. But when running tests, it's not a bad idea to make sure the bottom heads are damped too and throw a blanket over the whole kit...it keeps the dust off to boot.

rock, As I mentioned in my drum thread, my drums are already super dampened, as I play them that way. I'm a fan of that 70's cardboard box sound. So I ran into a hiccup. Turns out the new power supply I got for my music PC doesn't fit the case!!! So I need to order a different supply. smh So this will delay even more the testing (old supply doesn't have the wattage or connectors I need for the new mobo) - which is frustrating. But I did measure out the middle of the room and the 38% line and placed an "x marks the spot" on the floor so I know where to have my head/mic. To Be Continued......
