Hello everyone! I'm here for some advice about my current acoustic panel set up and possible future additions. I've posted a room visualizer to help.The multiple black boxes represent my acoustic panels. The black circles represent my drumset.
Question #1
I have bass trapping panels in my corner wall that are 3.5 inches thick with 10 inches of air gap behind them. This should still be suitable for bass trapping, I hope? I know Ethan's recommend suggestion was "705-FRK that is four inches thick and spaced 16 inches away from the wall" and this falls just a little short.
Question #2
I have a drum kit in my room that I think causes problems with reflections. To combat this, I placed three panels lengthwise so that he kit is fully “covered” from that side. There's a bass trap in the corner by the drums from wall to floor. And there's also a panel on the back wall near the drums. Is this actually helpful or am I just coo-coo bananas?
Question #3 I want to place panels on my back wall, but it's unsuitable at the
moment. I don't like to sleep too close to my panels, so I can't place them directly on the back wall. If I sleep on the opposite end of my bed, I'm right next to the panels near my drums. So on and so forth. I still want some sort of rear wall protection though. I was thinking to solve this, I could make a moveable panel and put it at the foot of my bed and have it directly next to the panels by my drums. Basically, I'd have a wall of panels behind me. The panels would be 3-4 feet from the back of my head and the panels themselves would be about 6 feet from the rear wall. Would that help at all or would it have adverse effects instead?

You have seven panels? To even begin worrying about the fine details you need at least 15% surface area coverage. Until then, set up a RFZ when doing critical listening and, when recording drums, try to position the panels behind the drums where the mics are pointing. In other words, to make the most of those panels, repurpose them.

I have a total of 16 panels. They're 47" x 15".
The 3 corners of my room each have 3 panels from floor to ceiling. So that's 9.
My RFZ has two panels on each side. So that's 4.
My drums have two panels when I'm done tracking them. So just 2.
And then the one panel placed on the back side wall.
Not enough?

Hi, i think its because in your plan your only showing what look like 7 pannels.....

If you're talking about where I sit for the RFZ, I thought I did make one with the bass trapping in the corners and the two panels on either side of my ears. If by "cloud", you mean the ceiling, I don't feel comfortable trying to hang something from the ceiling. And I don't really have the space to try and jerry rig some stands to put panels above my head.
I could do more for the drums. That's a good idea! Thank you.
All that would be left is the back wall. Do you have an answer for question #3?

Two things:
1. The panel is between you and your speakers and not directly over your head. You're supposed to screw it into a joist but I just use these butterfly drywall hooks. My current ceiling is made of cottage cheese so my panel did half fall once. Oh well.
But hey - do what is right for you.
2. Another unpopular opinion: I sleep on the floor. So I say sell the bed, prioritize acoustics. Barring that, do what you can. Movable panels seems fine.
At the end of the day, acoustic treatment can be an inconvenience. Only you can decide what's more important.
