Hello to all of you
My name is Stefan. I´m from munich, germany.
Unfortunately, my english is not so good. So first of all, please excuse my english. I hope, i will be able to express mysel as precise, that you can understand my topic.
I´m right on my way to build a new homestudioroom. It´s rented office-room and 5,45m long, 4,25m broad at the frontside, 5,88m broad at the backside and 2,85m high.
Unfortunately it´s impossible to fix anything at the front nor the back wall nor the ceiling. So i tried to develop a system, where i can fix all the treatment, without touching these things.
I build some boxes, where i put Caruso Isobond (i think this is fibreglas in us) in. These boxes are 1.20m broad, and 65 cm high. The thickness is 40cm. I use them as basstraps in all corner. I pile up the boxes, so the trap is about 2.60m high (the roohight is 2.85m).
At the frontwall between the basstraps, i have 20cm Isobond behind some Acustic-Wood panel. I decided, to twist the basstraps about 40°, so there is an airgap behind the front-basstraps from 0 to 80cm, so the Acoustic-Woodpanel i allready had fits in the gap between the basstraps.
The back also get´s basstraps. these are 62cm broad and 2,40 high. At the rearwall, i will install also 20-30cm isobond with 10cm gap to the wall. As you can see in the rendering, there is a window in the backwall. From my last studio, i have some Diffusors, wich i will also install in the back.
At reflectionpoints, i also have some absorber, about 1,20m to 1,40m and 20cm thick on each side. So far my description, of what i will be.
Now i got a bit confused about SBIR and my speakerplacement. Ich have to scetches attached, with two different ideas of placement. Now i´m quite unsure with wich placement i should start my REW-measurement.
With speaker V1, i tried to get a bit of a broader triangle. So my speakerplacement is about 75cm away from the frontwall. As far as i know, my SBIR frequency then is about 115Hz.
With speaker V3, i tried to get SBIR lower. The distance to the Frontwall there is about 60cm and SBIR should be around 70 Hz. The triangle is abut 30cm smaller.
Depending on the Woodpanels of the frontwall, which i allready had and the attempt to get better control on the modes which lead me place the basstraps in an angle, i can´t bring my speakers nearer to the wall.
What do you think, is the best starting point to place the speakers? smaller triangle but closer to the frontwall, or broader triangle and a higher SBIR frequency. Does my acoustic-treatment has any effect on the SBIR-effect? I know, that it is necessary to do some mesurements, to get the best position. I will do this with REW when my treatment is finished. Maybe, you have an opinion which would bring the better results.
I would highly appreciate to hear your thoughts on it.
With best regards from munich.
Stefan
