Currently the ceiling in my tiny (9'x14') bedroom studio is completely covered with my DIY 6" Safe-N-Sound Bass traps (hung with a 6" air gap). This has helped tremendously. I'm about to relocate my home studio to a one car detached garage (roughly 14' x 20' with finished 8" ceiling height) and was wondering if using 12" fluffy insulation on the ceiling instead of the 6" bass traps with air gap would do as good a job? I can then use the bass traps that are now on the ceiling in my current bedroom studio to cover more corner and walls in my garage studio. Furthermore fluffy insulation is a lot lighter and cheaper than Safe-N-Sound. What say you guys?

Yeah, 12" fluffy is fine. 12" safe n sound is ideal as is 24" fluffy in terms of how thick you can go with each material before adding reflective qualities. If your SnS panels aren't in areas that need to absorb high frequencies, you can use a little spray glue and put some paper on the front of them for better bass absorption.
