Hi, I inherited some standard foam wedge corner bass traps from my employer (I write music for games so they had a bunch of extra material around in their studio). I put them up in the corners of my home studio and they didn't tame the low frequencies (I have biggest issues around 150Hz, probably lower too, but my monitors roll off around 60Hz). I have since learned a lot from these forums (thank you!) so I built some 4 inch thick 2' x 4' panels of 703 and 705 fiberglass per your plans online. I was about to put them up, but I'm wondering, should I take down the foam first so it's air behind the panels, or just put the traps over the wedges. They fit right over top the current corner foam wedges.
In a sense, the basic question I'm wondering is, will my new corner panel traps be more effective with air behind them in the corner, or with foam behind them.
Thanks again! Jonathon

If you have no other use for the foam, leave them in place. Solid absorbers are a somewhat improvement than just air but the improvement is an order of diminishing returns so it's a matter of cost and value. In your case, leave them up, it can't hurt.

Rock, Thank you so much! Leaving them in place is definitely easier, so, good news. -Jonathon
