Im having this strange problem while playing DVDs on my pc with 2.1 speakers. All action scenes have dialogues suddenly turned low whenever there is a loud sound immediately before it. For example in the TURBO DVD during the race scene whenever the tires screech loudly or a crash takes place the dialogue volume gets low automatically and as the background becomes quiet the volume is restored. can't figure anything out.

Not that s Not that strange. Usually means that the center channel volume is too low, some place along the way. Check your wiring. Check your PC's internal sound level adjustments. Try another pair of speakers. Check any mode setting and "sonic enhancments" I know that there is no center channel as such. So, it is disappearing by indirect means.

Or maybe something is set to expect a center speaker, and since there is no center speaker that sound is mostly gone.

More like a normal surround decoder. That's what they do - create a center channel by taking output out of the L & R channels combining them, and sending it to the center channel. If you disconnect the center channel, then the L & R channels have a lot less "oomph".
