I have free pink batt and wish to pack some boxes to make LF absorbers till I get time to make or buy proper ones. Boxes are 39, 22, 13. 6.45 cubic feet. 12-13 lbs of pink would yield roughly 2lbs/per cubic foot.
I think I’ve read that pink or rockwool packed overly densely can become reflective. If so, what is that threshold? If denser is better up to that threshold, please let me know.
Conversely if packing rather lightly/loosely is advisable, please let me know.
Thank You,
Rick

Once insulation is to 8-12 inches thick or more, 1.5 to 2 pcf is fine. So for your large boxes, just use fluffy and don't pack it too tightly.
